Day 191: North to Naples

Day 192: January 25: Having made the decision to skip the Keys and Bahamas for now, we pulled up anchor and slowly made our way out of Indian Key Pass and onto the Gulf, leaving the Everglades behind. The Fleming that has been anchored near us all week remained, the only sign of civilization.

Sporting 1 to 2 foot waves, the Gulf was calm as it welcomed us back after a week's hiatus. We settled in for the 41 NM voyage, back to Naples, enjoying the pleasant cruise with only the dolphins as company.

We approached Marco Island, the skyline ever present for quite some time. John mentioned it was similar to seeing the Chicago skyline for the first time. It's unmistakeable.

Gordon Pass Inlet was calm and boat traffic was light compared to the last time we traveled to the Naples City dock. We were thankful not to be rocked by the "yahoos" as John calls them.

Tying to the mooring ball was not as difficult this time since we knew what to expect. With our "Eartec" headsets on, I was able to direct John back while standing on the swim platform and easily looped our line through the eye of the ball. A fellow Looper on Echo's Two was moored nearby watching as we "expertly" performed. As the saying goes: Sometimes you watch the show and sometimes you are the show. With a chuckle we noted today was not our day to be the show.

With dusk quickly approaching, the busy harbor quickly quieted down and we watched as magnificent colors painted the sky.
