April 29, 2024 On a Break from the Loop
April 30, 2024: What's Been Going On!
After leaving Slàinte Mhath at the Palm Coast Marina we visited with Grammy and Pa and Kat and Marc for 3 weeks. The weather wasn't as warm as we would have liked but better than snow. On Feb 14th Seth flew in to visit for a week. We had a wonderful time and his grandparents were happy to see him. We spent one day in St. Augustine, touring the historic city by trolley. I would recommend the trolley tour to anyone. You can get off and on wherever you want to check out sites of interest. One of our favorites was the Pirate stop and treasure hunt. We enjoyed the Castillo de San Marcos fort, especially for the views it offered of the ICW. Of course we stopped for lunch at the St. Augustine Seafood Company, a restaurante we have dined at before. Ice cream cones were also enjoyed by all!
Seth, John and Marc also went to the Daytona 500 which happened to be going on while Seth was in Florida, What a treat for everyone!
Marc and Kat are always willing to have the gang over to their house for something to eat; whether it be fish, burgers or chicken on the grill. Whatever it is we thoroughly enjoy the food and good times playing cards.
Seth, John and I flew out of Jackonville Airport on Feb 20th ; Seth headed back to VT and we traveled to Puerto Rico. We planned on staying until the 3rd week in April, giving us a good amount of time to finish the apartment renovations we had started last year. We made good progress although our plans changed a bit. We decided Seth needed help moving from his big house into a smaller one so we made plans to get to VT. John flew out of Puerto Rico a few days before I did; I then flew to Boston so I could pick up my car and drive to VT. Once settled in VT, the 3 of us were able to accomplish the tremendous task of moving; packing, taking loads to the dump, moving Seth's tools, cleaning and unpacking and organizing the new place. It was a great deal of work and we were grateful we had each other.
John flew back to Puerto Rico to finish up with the renovations the first week in Arpil , leaving me to take care of some more details with Seth. Although this stop was not part of our original plans, it provided time to visit with our precious granddaughters Eloise and Josie as well as get Seth settled in a new place. On April 22nd I drove back to MA and spent a couple of days in Westport with AJ before flying back to Palm Coast on April 25. John left PR and landed in Palm Coast on April 27th.
We have made the necessary preparations and are planning on getting underway on May 1. We got the boat looking pretty good in time to see a lovely rainbow overhead. Time to head north and cross our wake. We are in warmer weather and ready to head home.
