Day 219: Day in Atlantic City

Day 219: May 21: Although we could limp into the dock, we didn't want to risk causing damage so decided to contact Tow Boat. They gave us the number of a diver so John called him. He told us to get to the T dock at Farley's State Marina, which is in front of the Golden Nugget casino, and once there he would arrange for a diver. Farley's had space and Tow Boat was in the area so it didn't take long for us to get to the dock, located just past the Coast Guard station. Now we wait for the diver who is coming in the morning.

John took advantage of being at a dock to try to find and stop, or at least slow down, a water leak. One of the leaks is in the rudder shaft. With movement, grease wears out in the shaft; this happens on a continual basis and requires grease to be injected into the space. A second leak is coming from a hose connected to the water tank. Without the proper size pex crimper on board, a temporary fix was made using teflon tape and a hose clamp. Good enough to last until we get home.

We caught the shuttle bus, called Jitney, to the boardwalk. Since 1915, Jitney has served as an affordable mode of transportation for the AC community. For $2.50 per person, folks can travel most anywhere.

It was a breezy but warm day on the boardwalk. There were not many places open being too early in the season. We enjoyed walking and people watching!

Of course the arcade/casino was operating. With hundreds of lights flashing and loud music playing, it was not somewhere we would want to spend any time in.

Back at the marina, we contacted the casino to find a restaurant but none were open on a Tuesday. Just our luck! So it was hodgepodge for dinner.
